Secondary Plan Kickoff Meeting

In September 2020, the Township put out a Request for Proposals (RFP) to develop the Amherstview West Secondary Plan. Township staff completed an evaluation of the submissions and received approval from Council in December 2020 to enter an agreement with WSP Canada Inc. for the development of the Amherstview West Secondary Plan.

“I am pleased and excited to see this Plan proceeding. The development of the Amherstview West Secondary Plan will be an influential piece of the growth of Loyalist Township for decades to come,” stated Loyalist Township Mayor, Ric Bresee.

Representatives from Loyalist Township and WSP Canada Inc. will hold a kickoff meeting on January 29, 2021. The Secondary Plan will provide a policy and implementation framework to guide the future growth and development of this area for the next 25 years. The Plan will be developed over the course of 2021 and will include multiple opportunities for public involvement and engagement.

“Loyalist Township has been experiencing increased pressure for development, especially in Amherstview, and it is anticipated that this trend will continue. In order to properly plan for future growth and development, the Township has retained WSP to carry out a Secondary Plan. The Secondary Plan is a land use planning document that will establish a vision, goals, and policies for a variety of land uses, including locations for parks, natural environment areas, a connectivity plan with roads, pathways and municipal water and sewer extensions. The Secondary Plan will be carried out as an integrated planning process with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process. There will be numerous opportunities for community engagement to assist in planning for their community.” – Nadia De Santi WSP Consultant
