Masking Requirements Lifted for Public Transit Effective June 11
On June 8th, The Province of Ontario announced that provincial masking requirements for public transit will be lifted on Saturday, June 11. Effective June 11th at 6:00 a.m., masks will no longer be mandatory for persons aboard the Amherst Island Ferry.
Although the provincial government’s public transit mask mandate expires on June 11, Loyalist Township strongly recommends that travellers aboard the Amherst Island Ferry continue to wear masks during the following situations:
- During fare collection.
- While inside terminal buildings and indoor spaces aboard the vessel.
- When two-metres distance can’t be maintained.
To support a safe experience for our passengers and crew, Loyalist Township will continue to follow provincial and federal guidelines, as well as direction provided by local health authorities. Travellers are asked to be kind and respectful of their fellow passengers and Ferry Staff during this transition.
All public washrooms still closed will also reopen to the public.
