Purpose of the Interim Development Charges Study & Bylaw

The Development Charges Act, 1997 requires that the Township review and update development charges imposed to fund growth-related projects every five years. This ensures the study remains relevant and aligns with current growth projections and growth-related capital plans.

The current development charges by-law is set to expire on January 24, 2021 for hard services (Emergency Services, Public Works Building & Fleet, Roads & Related, and Stormwater Management) due to an extension granted by the Provincial Government’s COVID Support & Protection Act, 2020. As such, an interim development charges study and by-law is proposed, maintaining the charges at the current rates, until such time as a new by-law and study are approved following formal consultation session(s) with Council and the development community/stakeholders. The draft interim development charges study is in accordance with Section 10 of the Development Charges Act, 1997.
