Brookland Homes Pump Track Grand Opening

Brookland Homes and Loyalist Township are excited to announce the official opening of the Brookland Homes Pump Track at Loyalist Park, 133 Pratt Drive, Amherstview.

An opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19 at 6:00 PM. Following an official ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches, there will be a demonstration from BMXTraining613. Children of all skill levels are then encouraged to enjoy the new pump track.

“We felt that Loyalist was in need of a new, exciting outdoor recreation facility for kids to enjoy.” said Brookland Homes President, John Armitage. “After talking to my wife, Janice, our grandkids and doing our research, it became clear to us that a pump track was the project that the kids and the community would benefit from the most. Pump tracks are the second most popular new build recreation facility in Canada, and it provides a destination for all ages.”

In addition to the opening ceremonies, there will be plenty of free activities for the entire family including face painters, the “Come Out and Play” trailer outdoor lawn games, and more. The Amherstview Lions Club will also be on location offering free hot dogs.

Loyalist Township Mayor, Jim Hegardorn added “We are incredibly grateful to John and Janice Armitage for their generous funding of the development of the new pump track in Loyalist Park. John and Janice have exemplified a longstanding commitment to supporting youth recreation in Loyalist Township. Thanks to their support, young people and families will have a vibrant new space to gather, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors for years to come.”

The Brookland Homes Pump Track, fully funded through a generous donation from John and Janice Armitage, represents a significant investment in outdoor recreation at Loyalist Park. As part of the overall project planning, design work for a future skate park has also been completed. Construction of the skate park will proceed only if funding becomes available.

This project is now part of a proud group of initiatives made possible because of the generosity of Brookland Homes and President, John Armitage.

In January, the arena at the W.J. Henderson Community Centre was officially renamed the Brookland Homes Arena following a ten-year, $400,000 commitment to its revitalization by John and his wife Janice. Last December, Brookland Homes and the Patry Group teamed up to donate more than 100 scooters to BGC South East which were dispersed to local families in time for Christmas. John also continues to volunteer his time as a minor hockey coach in Loyalist.

John Armitage continued “Jan and I feel an obligation to give back to the community that has given so much to us and our family. We hope that this is just the beginning and that we can continue to make a difference for many years to come.”

At the conclusion of the opening ceremony of the Brookland Homes Pump Track, attendees are encouraged to stick around to enjoy the final TuNes Day in the Township concert of the summer. Live music for the evening will be provided by Brass Over Tea Kettle beginning at 6:30 PM.
