Deputy Mayor Townend Elected Vice-Chair of Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus

On January 9, 2026, the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC), representing 103 municipalities across the region, held its Annual General Meeting to review progress and set priorities for the year ahead. The meeting brought together municipal, provincial, and federal leaders to strengthen collaboration on economic development, infrastructure, housing, and rural health care.

At the Annual General Meeting, Nathan Townend, Warden of Lennox and Addington and Loyalist Township Deputy Mayor, was elected to serve as Vice-Chair for 2026. Warden Townend will serve alongside Bonnie Clark, Warden of Peterborough County, who will continue as Chair.

Their leadership will guide the Caucus in advancing strategic priorities and advocating for rural and small-urban communities across eastern Ontario.

"I am very honoured, and alongside Chair Clark I am ready to hit the ground running to support the EOWC's work to advance our region," stated Warden Townend.

Over the past year, the EOWC has continued to advance its strategic priorities, including economic resilience, municipal infrastructure, housing, and health care. As part of this work, the EOWC is pleased to submit its recommendations to the Ontario Government as part of the 2026 Budget Consultations.
