Geotechnical Investigations at 401 Underpass Structures

Thurber Engineering Ltd., working on behalf of AECOM and MTO, will be completing geotechnical investigations at several Highway 401 underpass structures in support of the Highway 401 Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment within the Study 2 limits from Kingston to Napanee. This Study has been initiated to address current and future transportation needs by developing a plan for the rehabilitation and/or replacement of various bridges and culverts, determining the long-term interchange configuration at seven locations, and establishing the footprint for the interim six and ultimate eight lanes of Highway 401.

Schedule (dates are subject to weather delays)

Old Wilton Rd bridge over Hwy 401 – May 4 to May 6

Traffic Control Description: One lane to be closed at a time with the use of Flaggers. Closure to occur daily for the duration of the works.

Sharpe Rd bridge over Wilton Creek near Hwy 401 - May 8 to May 12

Traffic Control Description: One lane to be closed at a time with the use of Flaggers. Closure to occur daily for the duration of the works.

Switzerville Rd bridge over Hwy 401 - May 15 to May 19

Traffic Control Description: One lane to be closed at a time with the use of Flaggers. Closure to occur daily for the duration of the works.
