Privacy Policy
Loyalist Township as a municipality is subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (M.F.I.P.P.A), R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56 as amended, through the mandate established by Council, and executed by Township staff. Subject to M.F.I.P.P.A, the Township is responsible for establishing reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access to the records, and to define, document and put in place measures which take into account the nature of the records to be protected as outlined by the Protection of Privacy Policy.
The Township does not automatically gather personal information from the public. Personal information, when collected, is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the provisions of M.F.I.P.P.A, and may include the following non-exhaustive list of classes about Council Members, the Public, Employees or Applicant:
- Contact Information (i.e. name, address, phone number, email, etc. …)
- Health Information (i.e. allergy, injury, or medical information, etc. …)
- Other Personal Information as defined by M.F.I.P.P.A (i.e. age, birth date, death date, gender, etc. …)
- Financial Information
- Employee Information (related to Township staff)
The Township’s Records and Information Management By-law includes a comprehensive list of the general types of records in the custody or control of the Township. The Personal Information Bank, published pursuant to section 34 of M.F.I.P.P.A, outlines the use and collection of personal information in the Township as included below.
