We’re excited to announce that the Barr Homes Aquatic Centre, located at the W.J. Henderson Community Centre will officially open on July 20, 2026! 

As we are preparing to welcome the community, you may notice the pool will be in use over the coming weeks as staff complete training and final preparations for opening day. 

 

Summer Swimming Lessons and Leadership Course Registration Dates:

July 6
– Registration opens for Loyalist Township residents and City of Kingston residents
July 9 – Registration opens for non-residents

The Barr Homes Aquatic Centre is a state-of-the-art aquatic facility designed to deliver a variety of aquatic programming experiences.

Latham Lap Pool

The Latham Lap Pool is an 8-lane, 25-meter pool featuring starting blocks, a diving board, a video scoreboard sponsored by the William James Henderson Foundation, and a touchpad timing system. The pool ranges in depth from 1.1 meters in the shallow end to 3.2 meters in the deep end, making it suitable for lap swimming, competitive events, and aquatic programming.

Savage Family Leisure Pool

The Savage Family Leisure Pool is a separate warm-water leisure pool including features such as a water curtain, bubble jets, etc. The pool has a maximum depth of 1.4 metres.

Drop-In Swims: 

  • Children under 3: $0 

  • Children 3-10 yrs: $3.57 

  • Youth 11-18 yrs: $3.57 

  • Adults 18-54 yrs: $5.27 

  • Seniors 55 yrs+: $3.69 

  • Aquafit 15 yrs+: $10.30 

Most drop-in swims do not require pre-registration. If registration is required, it will be clearly indicated online. Residents of Loyalist Township and the City of Kingston can register one week in advance, while non-residents can register four days before the swim. 

Swimming Lessons & Leadership Programs 

Registered programs have three fee categories:

  • Loyalist Township Residents, 
  • City of Kingston Residents
  • Non-Residents

Non-resident fees are 20% higher than Resident and Kingston Resident rates, and registration opens 72 hours later. 

Aquafit

1-Month Aquafit Membership: $51.56

10 Aquafit Pass: $92.70 

Most Aquafit programming does not require pre-registration. If registration is required, it will be clearly indicated online. Residents of Loyalist Township and Kingston can register one week in advance, while non-residents can register four days before the swim.

Through a funding agreement between Loyalist Township and the City of Kingston, City of Kingston residents receive the same registered program rates and registration access as Loyalist Township residents. This agreement helps support access to aquatic programming for residents of both municipalities.

Registered programs have three fee categories:

  • Resident
  • Kingston Resident
  • Non-Resident. Non-residents pay a fee that is 20% higher than the Resident rate and can register 72 hours after Resident and Kingston Resident registration opens.

There are transit stops conveniently located at the front entrance of the W.J. Henderson Community Centre. Riders can use self-serve trip planning tools, such as Transit and Google Maps, to pick your starting point and destination, and have your journey planned for you. 

Route 10 Service - The route 10 service, operated by Kingston Transit, runs between the W.J. Henderson Community Centre and Cataraqui Centre. 

Loyalist Link The Loyalist Link transit service provides transportation from Odessa, via the 90A, and from Bath via the 90B. Each service operates on weekdays for a 1-hour loop during peak times. 

Patrons are not permitted to bring: 

  • water wings 

  • water guns/super soakers 

  • glass scuba masks 

  • boogie boards 

  • go-pros 

  • outside sports equipment 

  • mono-fins 

  • specialized scuba equipment 

  • personal large pool mats 

  • speakers 

  • glass water bottles 

Patrons are permitted to bring: 

  • Personal Flotation Devices (please refer to our Admission Standards for supervision ratios) 

  • Goggles (no glass lenses), swim caps, ear plugs, nose plugs 

  • Training fins, hand paddles, and training snorkles for lane swims only 

  • Aquafitness hand gloves 

  • Legally prescribed personal medications that may be required while at the pool  

  • Plastic or metal water bottles (no glass) 

  • Personal, in-water headphones 

  • Water/Aqua Shoes 

  • Permitted Swim Attire 

  • No street clothes including underwear, baggy clothing, and thick heavy materials and fabrics 

  • Standard bathing attire 

  • Cultural bathing attire intended for swimming 

  • Rash guards 

  • Wet suits 

Phase 1 Opening (July 20 to August 2)

  • Monday to Friday : 8am-6pm 

  • Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4pm 

  • Pool Closed: Monday, August 3rd (Civic Holiday) 

Phase 2 Summer (August 3 – August 30)

  • Monday to Friday: 6am-8pm 

  • Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4pm
