Loyalist Township's Emergency Services department operates four fire stations, covering an area of 340 square kilometers and serving a population of approximately 17,000 residents. Loyalist Township Emergency Services is a composite fire service consisting of both full-time and paid on-call staff. Fire Training Centre
Loyalist Township Emergency Services training division is currently run by the Deputy Fire Chief. Regular maintenance training runs Tuesday nights, Wednesday mornings, and Thursday nights every week. All firefighting staff are required to participate in a minimum of 60 hours of maintenance training annually.
In addition to regular maintenance training, we conduct specialized courses such as officer development training. Training on new skills and techniques occurs throughout the year.
Loyalist Township operates its own training facility, the Fire Training Centre, complete with class A structural fire, vehicle fires, search and rescue, and various other operations. We built it mainly to enhance our personnel's skills. However, other fire departments from across the area keep our facility busy between April and October every year.
Superior tanker shuttle service
Our Bath and Odessa stations have received the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service accreditation from Fire Underwriters' Survey.
This certification is achieved through testing by stations who can continuously provide water supplies of exceeding 200 GPM within 5 minutes of arriving at the location of a residential fire. The Fire Underwriters' website has more information on the accreditation process.
For rural residents within 8 km of the Bath or Odessa station, this may mean a reduction on your home insurance premiums. You are encouraged to contact your homeowners' insurance provider to inquire about savings. Your insurer may request a certificate to confirm this.
