Community Improvement Plans

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a planning and economic development tool that sets out a framework to assist in community revitalization, and assists to achieve economic, community planning, and urban development goals. Loyalist Township's Official Plan Comprehensive Review was approved in 2022, and contains policies that allow CIPs to be implemented Township-wide. In 2022, Council adopted two Community Improvement Plans.

Industrial Community Improvement Plan: The purpose of the Industrial CIP is to create tax increment equivalent grant incentive to encourage the development of "greenfield", or previously undeveloped, industrial properties.

Brownfields Community Improvement Plan: The purpose of the Brownfields CIP is to facilitate rehabilitation of vacant or derelict industrial properties by means of four grant opportunities. These sites may otherwise be undesirable to potential investors due to the potential for environmental contamination, the extent of which may be unknown.

Affordable and Purpose-Built Community Improvement Plan: As part of our Housing Accelerator Fund initiatives, Loyalist Township Council has approved the Affordable and Purpose-Built Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP offers grants for the development of rental and affordable housing within the Township to meet the needs of renters and lower-income households.
