Main Street - Bath Rehabilitation Project
Loyalist Township is planning to rehabilitate and upgrade Main Street - Bath, from Centennial Park east to the eastern village limit. The project is expected to include reconstruction of the road base, watermain and sanitary sewer main replacement, drainage improvements, pedestrian safety improvements, and new active transportation infrastructure.
Main Street - Bath is considered by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to be a "connecting link", as it connects two sections of provincial highway, Highway 33. MTO has a Connecting Links grant program to which municipalities can apply for funding to assist with maintenance of the roadway and drainage features within the right-of-way. Loyalist Township applied to this program in October 2022 with the intention to use any grant funding for the design, field investigation, and tender documents to rehabilitate the section of Main Street - Bath described above. In April 2023 we were advised that our application was successful. In December 2023, Council awarded the contract for design, field investigation, and tender document preparation to AECOM Canada Ltd.
Preliminary design work will take place in early 2024. Public consultation is expected in the spring of 2024, with eventual construction timelines subject to capital budget approval. The best way to stay up to date on the project is by signing up for email updates.
