History and Heritage
The Loyalist Township Heritage Committee is a committee of Council which presently consists of one Council member and seven members who are residents of Loyalist Township.
The Heritage Committee which was formerly named LACAC (Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee), was renamed in March 1999 to promote a wider recognition in the community.
The Heritage Committee was established in 1988 by By-law 973-88 under section 28 of the Ontario Heritage Act.
The purpose of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee is to advise Council on local heritage matters and to assist Council in carrying out its heritage conservation program. The functions and responsibilities of the Committee shall be described in the Ontario Heritage Act. As well Council may from time to time request duties of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee and the terms of reference for the Committee may be amended by resolution of Council.
