Community Design Workshop: "Main Street" and Future Development Area

Join us to learn about the ongoing Amherstview West Secondary Plan and Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and participate by sharing your ideas.

The Community Design Workshop will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 10 am – 2 pm, at the Amherstview Community Hall, 177 Upper Park Road.

Working in facilitated small groups, participants will take a hands-on approach to develop a vision for a future “main street” in Amherstview West, including design principles that will guide the priorities, character, built form, and street profiles.

The Workshop will also explore long-term visioning and planning for the Potential Future Development Area in the Secondary Plan Area, shown in the diagram. Participants will discuss such neighbourhood aspects as housing types, community amenities like school blocks and parkland, and commercial business types, as well as transportation corridors and active transportation connections, while considering the area’s environment and natural heritage.

At this Workshop you will be provided with a workbook, visual aids, and tools. Groups will be guided by site considerations, the direction from community input to date, and the Loyalist Township Official Plan. Each group will share their ideas at the end of the session.
