The Ontario Government has announced new funding being delivered through the Municipal Modernization Program, to support small and rural municipalities in delivering services for locals and businesses in more efficient manners.

The Municipal Modernization Program is providing over $28 million to help 322 small and rural municipalities to aid in their innovation and modernization projects.

Loyalist Township is set to receive funding from the program for the following projects:

  • Electronic document and records management system implementation

  • Human resources information system implementation

  • Volunteer management system modernization

“Loyalist Township is excited to receive this support from the provincial government. This funding will support our efforts to provide our residents and business community with new, alternative and more efficient forms of documents and services through these modernization projects,” said Mayor Ric Bresee. “Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Loyalist has been investing time and effort in delivering efficient, accessible and flexible services to ensure our community remains safe and financially sustainable.”

Loyalist Township’s mission is to provide support and services that promote a prosperous quality of life for residents, the business community and visitors, through the effective delivery of services and governance, while maintaining economic and environmental sustainability

“COVID-19 has highlighted the need for municipalities to be as efficient and nimble as possible, while ensuring services remain financially sustainable today and in the future,” said Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “Through the Municipal Modernization Program, our government continues to support our municipal partners to operate more efficiently and streamline processes to deliver high-quality, sustainable services for residents and businesses, when and where they need them.”
