Filing of Nominations

Nominations for the positions listed above must be made on the prescribed form available at the Clerk’s office or on the municipal website. Nominations must be filed in person along with the endorsement form signed by 25 eligible electors and the applicable filing fee. The filing fee is $200 for the office of Mayor/Reeve and $100 for all other offices.

Eligibility

To run for a position, you must be eligible to vote in the municipality. On the day you file your nomination, you must be a Canadian citizen aged 18 or older and qualify as a resident or non-resident elector. For more information on eligibility, contact your local Clerk/Returning Officer.

Additional Nominations

In the event there is an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill the positions available, nominations will be reopened by the Clerk/Returning Officer, for the vacant positions only. Additional nominations would then be accepted between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. 

Acclamation

If the number of certified candidates is equal to the number of positions available, that position will be declared to be elected by acclamation.

Election

If the number of candidates certified is greater than the number required to fill the above offices, then an election will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022.

An in-person information session for potential Candidates and Third-Party Advertisers from the municipalities within the County of Lennox & Addington is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Strathcona Paper Center Banquet Hall (16 McPherson Drive, Napanee).
