• Weight restriction dates can be amended at any time in response to any rapid change in conditions that may affect roads.  

Seasonal load restriction - By-law 2024-44

The Township puts weight restrictions on all municipal roads in accordance with by-law 2024-44. The restrictions have been updated recent to reflect the changing climate conditions which can cause an earlier spring thaw. These restrictions are put into place to help protect road infrastructure from severe damage during spring thaw. As frozen ground melts, water saturates the road base, making it soft, weak, and highly vulnerable to permanent damage. Loads are restricted to five (5) tonnes per axle during this period. Loyalist Township is aligned with the County of Lennox and Addington which also places the same load restrictions on County owner roadways. For questions regarding County seasonal load restrictions, please contact the County of Lennox and Addington.
