Community Cleanup

Loyalist Township is hosting a week‑long Community Cleanup initiative during Earth Week 2026, encouraging residents to actively participate in removing litter and debris from public spaces across the Township. The program supports environmental stewardship, community pride, and civic engagement while offering flexible participation opportunities for residents of all ages. 

  • Registration Period: Tuesday, April 7 to Saturday, April 25
  • Cleanup Period: Sunday, April 19 to Saturday, April 25 (Earth Week)
  • Participation Timing: Self‑directed; residents may participate anytime during Earth Week.

How to Use the Map Tool:

1) Click the 'add marker' button in the bottom right corner of the map. And select the area that you and your group would like to collect litter. Once you have placed your marker, scroll down and complete the registration form.

2) Click a preferred collection point (red trash can icons) on the map. These are local parks and trails in the area. Once you have selected your collection point, scroll down and complete the registration form.

FAQ

If you come across any hazardous objects such as broken glass, sharp objects, or dead animals, please do not pick them up. Instead, report them at the Loyalist Township Report-A-Concern webpage, or call, 613-386-7351. 

We ask that all participants use the unique garbage bags available for pickup, allowing us to track how much garbage is collected.

Registration is strongly encouraged so Township staff can prepare for the event. Resident can still participate if they do not register online.

Weather Awareness: Dress appropriately for rain, snow, or wind.
Visibility: Wear brightly coloured clothing.
Boundaries: Stay off private property and roadways.
Hazardous Objects: If you come across any hazardous objects such as broken glass, sharp objects, or dead animals, please do not pick them up. Instead, report them at the Loyalist Township Report-A-Concern webpage, or call, 613-386-7351.
Personal Safety:
- Children must be supervised.
- Gloves should be worn at all times when cleaning up.
- Avoid touching your face and wash your hands immediately after cleanup.
