2025 holiday impact on collection

Garbage and recycling collection schedules will be affected during the weeks of December 22 and December 29. Collection will occur one day earlier for all routes.

Zone 1 (regular collection day is Tuesday) will be collected on Monday, December 22 and Monday, December 29.
Zone 2 (regular collection day is Wednesday) will be collected on Tuesday, December 23 and Tuesday December 30.
Zone 3 (regular collection day is Thursday) will be collected on Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31.

Please have your garbage and recycling out on the curb for 7:00 a.m. the morning of your collection day.

Christmas tree collection begins Monday, January 5, 2025. Please have your tree out on the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on January 5, 2026.

To the curb by 7 a.m. - maximum 40lbs/18kg a bag or can

All your waste and recycling items must be placed at the curbside by 7 a.m. on the morning of your collection day to make sure everything is picked up. If you are late - collection crews are not able to return.
Maximum weight of each garbage bag or can, even if containing multiple bags, is 18kgs/40lbs.
All garbage bags placed at the curb must have a properly affixed bag tag on the bag .

Mainland curbside pickup of garbage and recycling happens three days a week.
Amherst Island residents can take their garbage and recycling directly to the landfill.
Brush and yard waste are collected separately in the spring and fall every year.
Household hazardous waste should be taken to the Kingston Area Recycling Centre (KARC).
