Amherst Island Ferry Transit Card
We’re excited to announce that the Amherst Island Ferry is moving toward reloadable transit cards, making fare payment more convenient and flexible for riders. This Transit pass will replace the 25-bulk ticket package.
These transit cards work as stored value cards, not tickets. Funds can be loaded onto the card and used to pay fares as you travel. The minimum load value is $110.00, equaling to 25 rides.

Choose between a digital or physical transit card.
Whether you choose a digital or physical card, both options can be reloaded online, and balances can be checked online at any time.

What type of transit card is being used?
Loyalist Township is using customized Square-issued gift cards as the Ferry Transit Pass. While they are issued as “gift cards,” they do not need to be given as a gift and can be purchased and used for your own personal ferry travel. The card functions as a stored-value transit card, allowing you to load funds and use them toward ferry fares.
Should I purchase a digital or physical Transit Card?
The card you choose to purchase is based on your preference!

Passenger terminal buildings in Millhaven and Stella were opened for public use on February 28, 2022. The passenger terminal buildings provide passenger & staff facilities including restrooms, waiting areas and offices.
The redeveloped terminals also provide a paved parking area, bike racks and pedestrian sidewalks.
In the event of an emergency, the ferry will prioritize emergency vehicles. This may include the removal of vehicles to make room for emergency vehicles and could mean returning to the mainland mid-trip before resuming the normal schedule.
