Water Conservation Incentives
$50 Credit on water/wastewater bills
Loyalist Township offers a $50 credit on water/wastewater bills to assist residents with purchasing a low-flow toilet or high-efficiency faucet to conserve water. To apply, you will need:
- Detailed information of installed fixture in accordance with the terms and conditions.
- An electronic copy of the invoice/bill of sale.
- Your water/wastewater account number
Council approves an annual allotment to this program; therefore, applications are first-come, first-served.
If the credit is granted, the credit will be applied to the next bill if processing time permits. If there is an issue with your application, the Accounting Clerk will contact you via telephone at the phone number provided on your application.
Did you know:
A cubic metre (m3) of water is 1000 litres. Some examples that are equivalent to one m3 are as follows:

7 filled standard sized bathtubs;

5 washing machine loads;
-
20 dishwasher loads;
-
36 minutes in the shower with a standard shower head;
-
1 hour use of a low-flow lawn sprinkler;

22 minutes use of an underground irrigation system;
-
9 days of a leaking faucet (steady drip);
-
0.4 days of a steady running toilet.
Switching to a low flow/high efficiency fixture could save a family of four can up to:

41 m3/year in water when switching to a 13L to a 6L toilet (16 flushes per day) – up to $206 in consumption charges/year (2022 rates).

12 m3/year in water when switching from a standard to a high-efficiency faucet (12 minutes of runtime/day) – up to $59 in consumption charges/year (2022 rates).

Terms and conditions
- Limit of one rebate, applied as a credit to the account, per billed service address/single family unit to which the Township supplies water and/or wastewater.

Eligible fixtures include:
- A low-flow toilet that uses a volume of 6 litres or water or less per flush.
- A high-efficiency faucet that uses a volume of 7.5 litres per minute or less.

The applicant must be a registered property owner.

The applicant must provide the sales receipt within 90 days of the purchase date, which details the manufacturer, name, and model number.

The fixture must be installed prior to application.

The program does not apply to new construction or new bathroom additions; it must be a replacement fixture.

The Township reserves the right to an on-site inspection of the new fixture if deemed necessary.

The Township reserves the right to require proper disposal of any obsolete fixtures at the cost of the applicant in accordance with its waste management by-law. Used toilets can be disposed at the Township landfill located at 1346 Violet Road, Odessa. Applicants may have the opportunity to use the Free Large Item Disposal Opportunity program.

The Township does not guarantee or warranty: (i) the performance of the fixture; (ii) that the installation shall be free of defects; or (iii) the quality of the workmanship.

The Township reserves the right to reverse the rebate if it is found at any time that the terms and conditions have been breached.

Rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until the annual budget allotment has been exhausted.

The Township reserves the right to discontinue the program at any time.
