Family Fishing Day
We are excited to host a Family Fishing Day event this spring. Join us for fun games, crafts, face-painting, live music, a community fundraiser, cash BBQ and, of course, fishing!
Industry professionals will be on hand with booths to showcase and share water safety tips and information on invasive species, natural habitats, impact of pollution, and much more.
Pop into the Neilson Store Museum & Cultural Centre to learn about the history of Amherst Island.
We encourage you and your family to bring a fishing rod or two, life jackets and join in the fun.
Pre-registration is required but the event is free for all and will be happening rain or shine!

How to get there
The Amherst Island ferry service runs daily and takes 20 minutes.
Getting to the island is half the fun! Enjoy the views during the short ride and take in the beauty of Lake Ontario as you travel in style on the Frontenac II.
The return trip costs $10 per car and $1.50 per bicycle and is free for pedestrians. The ferry leaves just west of Milhaven on the half-hour and returns on the hour, daily.
Take the shuttle
We encourage you to park at the Loyalist Township Garage located at 240 County Road 4, just south of Taylor Kidd Blvd., and catch the shuttle which will begin at 9:00 a.m. The last shuttle will leave this location at 12:15 p.m. to ensure event guests have at least one hour to enjoy the Fishing Day festivities. The shuttle will take you from the Township garage to the Millhaven Ferry terminal. You can then walk on to the ferry and enjoy the ride! Once across, another shuttle will be waiting to take you to the Neilson Store Museum & Cultural Centre. The shuttle service will run on a continuous loop between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and is free of charge.
